West Valley Juniors Volleyball Club Information

Founded in 1998, West Valley Juniors Volleyball Club is a registered non-profit corporation belonging to the United States Volleyball Association.  The club is comprised of competitive and developmental teams ranging in age groups from 12’s through 18’s.  We were formed to focus on players in the west valley and to offer more playing time and experience.  We limit team size to between 10 and 12 players to help players receive more coaching.  We strive to keep the cost to a minimum so we may offer more opportunities for players.

FEES: West Valley Juniors Volleyball Club works to keep costs to a minimum.  The fees collected cover things such as insurance, mailings, USAVB membership (required for all players), equipment and supplies, league team fees and coaching costs.   The fees listed above also include the following for each of our players:

Ø      Matching Uniform

Ø      Warm-up Shirt

Ø      Spandex Shorts

Ø      Knee pads

Ø      Matching Socks

The total cost for each player will be $500 for 16’s and $600.00 for 18’s.  In addition to the 6 normal tournaments the club will participate in, the fee for the 18’s will also include the team’s participation in the Fiesta Classic in Tempe.  The 16’s teams are also welcome to participate in the Fiesta Tournament, however the cost will have to be assigned to the participating players.  There also are opportunities to participate in other tournaments, and if a team wishes to participate in an extra tournament the additional cost will be divided among the team members and dependant on the tournaments they wish to attend.

Payment schedule will be:

Try-out Fee - $100.00

January 16th - $200.00

February 13th - $200.00

Practice Facilities

Because West Valley Juniors is committed to the players in the Buckeye, Verrado, Goodyear, and Estrella Foothills areas, we hold many of our practices in those locations.  The nights for practice will be determined by the team and based on court availability and what is practical for all the players and coaches.

Buckeye Union High School – Agee Gym

Buckeye Union High School – New Gym

Youngker High School

West Valley Juniors is currently working to secure additional practice facilities in and around the west valley.

Tournament Locations

Tournaments are held throughout the valley and on some occasions outside the valley in Tucson or even Flagstaff depending on court availability.  West Valley Juniors was fortunate last year that many of the tournaments were hosted by us.  This meant no travel for our teams and also presented opportunities for fund raisers by opening the concession stands or participating in set-up and tear-down of the facilities.  You can read more on that on the back page in the “Fund Raising” section.

Popular locations for tournaments last year included:

Kingdom Courts at 19th Ave and Peoria

Highland High School in Gilbert

Salvation Army Rec Center in Phoenix

Palo Verde High School in Tucson

Fund Raising Opportunities

A major goal of the West Valley Juniors Volleyball organization is to provide a cost effective means for all girls to enhance and grow their volleyball skills.  A way we help do this is by providing fund raising opportunities for all the girls.  Participation in these is strictly voluntary, but those that have chosen to participate have paid for their entire season through fund raising.  Some have even had money left over at the end of the year!

Examples of some of the fund raising opportunities that may be available again include:

Avon SalesAvon provides a 40% return on their fund raisers.  This was very popular with the girls because it was profitable, and they had fun selling it to their friends and family.

Concession Stand Sales – On tournaments hosted by West Valley Juniors, there was an opportunity to open the concession stands during the tournament and sell popular items.  Parents that provided the goods, or worked the stand during the tournaments then split the profits.

Site Set-up and Tear-down – On tournaments hosted by West Valley Juniors, the club is paid a fee to provide the set-up, tear-down and clean up of the facilities.  Parents and players that assisted with this were then compensated portions of those fees.
