Absence Policy (2008-2009)
In order to
have the best program possible, we would like to explain our policy regarding
player absences. West Valley Juniors
Volleyball Club understands and supports player’s school activities. Any absence due to a conflict with a school
related sport activity will be considered excused, and not counted. Notice should be given to
the player’s coach at the earliest possible time, at least one
week before a missed practice and at least two days (by Thursday) before a
missed tournament. (Tournaments are paid
for in advance. If there are not enough
players to participate in a tournament we must cancel two days prior or we are
charge a penalty fee by the region.) A
$10.00 additional fee will be charge to a player for each miss tournament in
which she does not notify her coach at least 2 days prior to missing that
tournament day.
In addition to the above excused absences, a player will receive six “personal” excused absences. These may be used at the player’s and their parent/guardian’s discretion for family activities, religious activities, non- sport school activity, etc. As above, notice should be given to the player’s coach at the earliest possible time, at least one week before a missed practice and at least two days before a missed tournament.
After four excused absences, a written notice will be sent to the player and their parent/guardian. After five excused absences, a meeting will be schedule with the player and their parent/guardian. If seven absences are reached, the player will be dropped from the team. If there are unforeseen circumstance the player/parent may ask for a hearing.
While we understand that life is busy for our players and their families, we also know that in order for a player and their team to reach their full potential in the sport of volleyball regular practices and a sense of commitment are necessary. Please help us in our effort to have a strong program by limiting player absence.
